How to Write a Winning Personal Ad
by aeriel kotval - Tuesday, January 8 2008, 05:44 AM
Anyone in the world
By David Kamau This is fact. There's competition in online dating. A winning personal ad is must if you hope to get the right guy or gal. This article is not about revealing "secrets" of writing personal ads as there's no such animal. But follow the following tips and you will stand out of the crowd, which you must do to get noticed. First draft your ad on a separate piece of paper or type it on a word-processing document such as Word, WordPad, and Notepad etc. Here are 12 steps to writing a winning personal ad: 1. Be honest: If you're serious about finding that special someone don't, repeat don't, lie. Nothing's as disappointing as finding out the guy/gal who claimed in emails that he/she works out regularly at the gym is 300ibs of adipose (fat) tissue. 2. As they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. Most people look at the photo before they even think of reading the ad. You may email, upload or mail the photo for scanning, all free. But please don't use a picture of yourself when you were twenty if you are now 44! And oh yes, a smile helps too. 3. The top-rated dating sites allow you to upload a voice message with your ad. Your voice as well as manner of speech tells a lot about you. Use it the right way- no pretences please- and your ad will get attention. 4. Don't just say what you think people want to hear. Example, if you say you have a healthy sense of humor, yet your ad is dull and boring well, they just won't buy it. 5. Be realistic. Maybe you want to introduce some athletic genes into your family tree, but you will have a hard time finding an international Kenyan runner online. 6. Let your personality come through. Conversational style writing works best. If you have a sense of humor, use it but in good taste (don't tell a dirty joke in a non-adult website, please). Ditto if you have a poetic touch- just don't baffle them with Shakespearean speak. 7. Create an attention grabbing headline. Don't be just another "DWM, 42, Seeking Love". Be different. A little homework will help here. Study the personal headlines that grab your attention. Use these as model. You can even steal a headline or two, just don't say I told you so (wink). 8. Describe yourself. You do know yourself, don't you? Don't be just another "Likes candle light dinners". Who are you? What's important to you? Do you enjoy long drives while appreciating nature's beauty? Do you like Bach or Mozart? List these down. 9. This is more of an extension of #8 above: Instead of rambling on about the person you're looking for, write about you own characteristics and personality. Put yourself in the other person's shoes and ask yourself what you would like about YOU. List these down. Please be honest. All the same, avoid cheap modesty. If you have a special talent (example, you can play the piano really well), let it be known. Just state it as fact and not brag. 10. Be positive: You may be desperate and miserable, but please don't let it show. Negativity repels. Likewise avoid "this is me, whether you like it or not" mentality. Not only is it obnoxious, it also reeks of insecurity and/arrogance. Be yourself, positively. 11. Polish your ad: You wouldn't show up on your first date with unkempt hair and dirty clothes, I trust? Then check your ad for misspellings, bad sentences etc. Remove all the bits that might not interest your potential date. Be brief without losing essence: patience runs very thin online. Re-write till you're completely satisfied- this might seem a pain in the rear, but the payoff is worth it. 12. BE HONEST! This can never be overstated. Finished? Now you can transfer (or copy and paste) your extraordinary ad on to your favorite dating site and submit. Is It Really Possible To Find A Russian Bride? Yes, It Is
by aeriel kotval - Monday, January 7 2008, 02:43 AM
Anyone in the world
By Davor Luny If you are like I was a year ago and are getting tired of your local singles club dates and their attitudes towards almost anyone (including you and your pals) and always seeing the pretty ladies fall for the guy with the big bucks, that by the way, even if he doesnt want to admit it; has to pay for some love all time; then maybe you have been day dreaming and thinking about what you are doing wrong. The truth is that maybe you are not doing anything wrong, maybe you just happen to be in the wrong place. And being in the wrong place easily makes finding a charming and beautiful woman that you may even consider marrying and having a nice life together an endeavor easily comparable to an impossible dream. I wish I could find a woman that will be different to what I usually find everywhere. Quite probably are the words you keep repeating to yourself those lonely nights at home without really knowing how to pass from dreaming to reality. But now its time for you to consider stop dreaming and start acting. I have good news because everything indicates you may find a bright reality ahead pretty soon. All you need is some patience and the right information. It is very probable youve heard before about those famous and charming Russian ladies from the former Soviet Union that you can find on the web. And it is also very probable that you, as many men around the world, still have a good deal of prejudice about entering in a relationship with these beautiful Russian women; ladies that may seem you too close to a far away dream and for many even an invitation from scammers. But the truth is that they indeed exist and are also dreaming, like you are, about finding the right man they cant, and in many cases will never find at home. And yes, most of them are sincere women looking for their soulmates and willing to build a family with that lucky man they choose as their beloved partner. Stories about scammers and other terror news have been too widely abused and distributed without considering the real situation and taking a few cases of abuses as a rule for all the others. But in reality there have been, and there will always be a bunch of wonderful stories about couples that met through the internet and are now living together and building strong families. Russian women want and need men that are willing to build a family and give respect and love to their particular woman. They are not looking for good looks, jerks or millionaires aboard. Just a decent and working man that can provide for a family and in whom she can trust. And no, a genuine, marriage interested lady will not be chasing after a green card neither. For most of them it is all abut love and the imperative cultural need all Russian women have for a husband. You may be surprised to learn that a woman in Russia that is over 23 and has not been married yet is considered a woman left to be single. No matter how beautiful she may look. The amount of men population in countries that once belonged to the Soviet Union has been decreasing making the ratio of men to women less than one. And from the ones available only a few are marriage minded due to the hard economical situation of their countries, and most of those get married in their early 20s. As you can see its not a very nice situation if you are a woman looking for a mate. So, women are left with two options; being alone and single all their lives or look for a husband abroad, with the immigration process that this will imply and which is always a difficult decision for them to make. To leave their country, family and friends to come to a strange place where they dont know anyone and not even enough of the language is a hard decision. But again, the will and desire to build a family is strong, and so culturally rooted in them that they will do what is needed in order to find love and build their own families. So, there you have it. If you have been day dreaming about a charming woman to marry and you are willing to give her your love and respect, you have the blueprint of the road that will lead you to her arms. Turn to Russia, and look for love. You wont regret it. If you are looking for something else, dont waste your time not hers. There are many places with catalogs and information about Russian Women, but if you are looking for the most genuine and up to date information I would recommend you to visit: http://www.askingplanet.com/RBride Let Elena guide you through the whole process of finding your Russian soulmate. Maintaining Oxygen Levels in Fish and KOI Ponds
by aeriel kotval - Saturday, January 5 2008, 12:08 AM
Anyone in the world
By Brett Fogle Severe environmental stressors are the most frequent causes of sudden fish death in garden ponds or other fish habitats, and the lack of oxygen in the water is the number 1 stressor of all. Two major factors contributing to fish-pond oxygen loss concern blooming algae. During daylight hours, algae make oxygen; during the night, however, the plants take oxygen. If algae are profusely blooming, the plants deplete all the ponds oxygen during the night, which in turn, causes fish inhabiting the pond to die. Another way that algae trigger oxygen loss is by dying suddenly. Algae-bloom death occurs naturally or from chemical treatment of an algaecide. When algae die suddenly from either cause the oxygen becomes quickly depleted because the algae no longer are alive and making it. Then, when dead algae begin to decompose, the decaying process even further depletes oxygen. Fish have been observed gulping for oxygen at the waters surface in sixty minutes or less from the onset of sudden algae death. In ponds stocked liberally with many fish, often the oxygen level is just adequate enough to sustain them. If any further claim on the existing oxygen is made, this delicate environmental balance will be upset. When no or inadequate aeration is provided, along with rising warm-weather water temperatures, the conditions for fish survival become critical. As water warms, its oxygen-retaining capacity decreases. Consequently, small fountains, waterfalls, or other water-aerating devices are incapable of providing adequate oxygen for fish. Additional oxygen should be introduced through brisk aeration when fighting algae, most importantly when water temperatures surpass eighty degrees Fahrenheit. Testing devices are the only sure method to accurately read oxygen levels. Because these devices are not usually on hand for the average person maintaining a water garden or fish pond, the easiest way to ensure sufficient oxygen levels is to provide generous and continual aeration. Pumps and diffusers that bubble air into the water or large waterfalls, fountains, and other splashing water devices are common ways to get sufficient oxygen into the pond. When the weather is warm, or if an algae problem exists, it is imperative that supplemental aeration be provided constantly, throughout the day and night. One other algae-caused loss of fish has gained attention and is being studied in areas around the world. These fish-killing algal varieties contain potent toxins that trigger sudden fish death. If a pond hosts these particularly virulent algae, devastating fish loss can result, seemingly more so when a quick die-off of algal bloom occurs. The blooms discharge their toxins concurrently, and some or all fish in the pond are adversely affected or killed. Fortunately, since pond owners are unable to identify these algae, this danger is rare. Keep your oxygen levels under control at all times and you will greatly increase your the lifespan of your fish. Student Safety Tips

By Frank G Getting an education theses days is tuff enough. Between paying tuition, bills, school supplies and hours of studying, students have to watch out for their safety as well! Students cant count on campus security as they never seem to be around when needed, they just cant be expected to watch over so many students and guarantee everyones safety. If you live on campus, be careful who you let in your dorm. Be very weary of strangers or people you just met. Many can seem very nice and sweet but yet have alternative motives. Also be very careful of who follows you into the building. If you are walking alone many will take this chance to follow you into your dorm, so be very aware of your surroundings. Lock your bedroom door even if you are only going into your hallway. Did you know about half of all burglaries happen because a door or windows are left open? If you're in a private home or apartment make sure all the windows are locked down and the front door is always locked. It doesnt matter if youre only going to be out a few minutes out or close by. Always lock up! You never know who might be watching! Muggers, burglars and rapists are always looking for an easy target. You dont want to be one of them, always try to be in groups at night. If you cant be with friends going home, youre probably better off getting a taxi or staying over a friends home. When using ATM machines try to be in a group of friends or trusted people. If you can, any time you need to use ATMS try to get your cash early on. The early the better, less chance of getting cornered and robbed in the dark of night. So its best to use ATMS in groups and during the day if possible. Put your debit card and cash away quickly and always be aware of who's around you and your surroundings. Needles to say never give anybody your pin number or write it down where someone can take it. Everyone is more vulnerable to crime or being abused in some sort or manner, when they've been drinking. If you're planning a big night out partying, arrange beforehand a way to get home safely, with friends, or in a taxi. Be careful of whom you accept drinks from, men and women can have their drinks spiked for different reasons. Keep an eye on your drink as much as possible with strangers. I am not saying you have to be paranoid or anything like that; just use common sense and all should be well. When Friends Turn Against Friends
by aeriel kotval - Tuesday, January 1 2008, 07:14 AM
Anyone in the world
By Karen Fusco When children first begin to socialize, their relationships are pretty straightforward and the arguments tend to be innocent. Most of the time, a simple "I'm sorry" will put an end to the any hardships encountered. As the years go by and children get older, the disagreements between them can become more complex and the situations harder to deal with. How you help your child cope with such difficulties can set the tone for how your child handles conflict throughout his or her childhood, and even into adulthood. The first time your son or daughter comes home in tears due to a conflict with a playmate can be heartbreaking. After all, we want to protect our children from the painful situations life may throw at them. Unfortunately, that's just not possible. One day your child may have to deal with the experience of having one or more friends turn against her after all, children can be unreasonable and sometimes cruel. If this happens, it's essential that you help your child cope with the situation and teach her to overcome it. If your son or daughter does happen to be at the receiving end of childhood ridicule and abuse, the first thing you need to do is sit down with him or her and explain that it doesn't necessarily mean the end of the friendship and it's definitely not the end of the world. Ask your child what the cause of the conflict is. If it's something your child did wrong, encourage them to apologize for their actions. An apology tends to go a long way as far as children are concerned. If it's something the other child or children have done wrong, encourage your child to stand his ground. Sticking up for one's principles may not be an easy thing to do, but learning to do so at a young age will make doing so much easier as an adult. If your child really doesn't have any idea as to what initiated the conflict, suggest straightforward communication. Oftentimes conflict is the result of miscommunication or misunderstanding. If your child asks his or her friends why they're mad, they may be able to take steps to resolve the situation. If there really is no basis for the argument and the other children are being stubborn and even downright unreasonable, encourage your child to make new friends. The friends a child has will have an impact on who he or she becomes as an adult and your child may be better off making more agreeable friends in the long run. Going through and resolving these situations helps teach your child that there are ways to work out problems, even if it's not evident at the start. Help your child gain all the tools he needs to thrive in the world. 8 Common Family Tree Research Challenges and Their Solutions
by aeriel kotval - Sunday, December 30 2007, 03:25 AM
Anyone in the world
By Chris Simeral Every amateur genealogist is bound to hit a dead end every once in a while. Dont lose hope. The information youre looking for IS out thereit just might take a little more digging to find it. Here are some common problems and their solutions -- that trip up many family tree researchers: 1. Sorting out names. Names can get you into a muddle if several of your ancestors share a name. Names were often passed on from one generation to the next, so you could find that three of your ancestors are all called James Clifton Sterling. Who's who? If you're confused about names, the answer is to talk to the older members of your family, NOW. This is a vital first step. If you don't talk to them first, you'll have to do it later. Ask for full names and nicknames, plus dates of birth, marriages, and dates of death of your ancestors. Ask whether anyone in the family has an old family Bible. You may even find that someone in the family has already traced his or her family tree, which will give a boost to your own searches. 2. Where do I start? Which line should I trace? This is up to you. If you try to trace all your ancestors, it will likely take years because of the huge number of people involved. Start with your own surname; the surname you were born with. If you're a married woman, this means your maiden name. If you know your four grandparents, start with the family that used to live, or still lives, close to where you live now, because you can use the public library and the records office in your area. If you don't want to follow that line, then choose the rarest of the four surnames, because, ironically, a rare surname is often easier to trace than a common one. 3. I can't find my great-grandfather! Whenever you come to a complete dead-end, your first step is always to send for the birth certificate of the ancestor that you do know. Yes, it's frustrating to wait, but when you receive the document, you'll probably see why you were stumped. Let's say you're looking for your great-grandfather, Edward Thomas Carmichael, and he doesnt seem to exist. By sending away for your grandfather's birth certificate, you may find that his father was David Thomas Carmichael. In other words, someone's memory has failed them, and they gave you an incorrect name. This is very common; dont simply believe what your relatives tell you people often confuse names and places and one branch of the family with another. 4. Why is it so hard to find information on European ancestors? Everyone who was born in England or Wales since 1837 should have had his or her birth registered by the state. However, it's estimated that in some parts of the country, as many as 15% of all births were not registered in the decades after 1837, because there was no penalty on parents for failing to register until 1875. Also, some parents believed that it wasn't necessary to register the birth if the child was baptized. Therefore, if you're looking for your English ancestors, start with the birth registration. Genfindit at http://www.genfindit.com/ offers to find birth, death and marriage certificates for a fee. Alternatively, try these free resources: * The English Archives Network at http://www.a2a.org.uk (Note: this URL will eventually be changing to http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/a2a). * FreeBMD, which lets you search birth, death and marriage indices in England and Wales from 1837 to 1902, with some records also up to 1983: http://freebmd.org.uk 5. I'm trying to find __________ and ___________ and ________ but Im getting nowhere. Your problem here is a lack of focus. Always start with what you know: that is, with yourself, your parents, your grandparents, and your great-grandparents. Only after you've gathered all the names, dates and places of birth, dates of marriages, and dates and places of death for those who are deceased, should you attempt to go back further. Always focus on one branch at a time, and one or two names at a time. Once you have all the information on those, you'll find that the information you're looking for turns up and that there was really no need to stress over it in the first place. Also, remember to get proof. If someone in the family sends you a photocopy of great-great-grandfather's birth certificate, that's proof. But it's not proof if someone tells you when and where they think he was born. You could end up tracing a branch of a family that you're not even related to. 6. I spent hours at the library and I didn't find a thing! We all have days where the pickings are slim, and we feel as if we're not gettinanywhere. However, consider that you did learn that your ancestors are not in those particular records. You've eliminated those sources, and it's one more place you wont have to search in the future. 7. I have conflicting information. This happens more often than you'd think possible. If the census documents say your great-great grandfather was born in 1840, the old family Bible says he was born in 1852, and burial records say he was born in 1848, which do you believe? When this happens, try and corroborate one of the dates from another source. Census documents can be wrong, as can the information in the family Bible. In the 18th and 19th centuries, many babies died in infancy. Sometimes another child was given the name of a child who died. Burial records can be wrong, too perhaps the undertaker made an error, or someone in the family gave the date incorrectly. 8. I can't find the family in the census. If you're sure that your family lived in the county when the census was taken, but you can't find them, there could be several reasons. Check: * Alternate spellings. * That you're looking at the right county in the right state, several states have more than one county with the same name. * The end of the county enumeration. If pages were stuck together when they were microfilmed, the missed pages were then filmed at the end of the county enumeration. Don't give up. It's possible that the indexer made an error. Names were alphabetized incorrectly, or misread, or even omitted. If the census that you're checking was indexed by several organizations, check to see whether your family appears in another index. It's difficult for us to imagine how laborious it was to write everything and to make copies by hand. 8. I have two people in the same place at the same time with the same name: which is my ancestor? This is a slightly different challenge from the above, "Sorting out names." When you find two people with the same name in the same place at the same time, and either could be your ancestor, you're going to have to examine the information, and perhaps gather more information, so that you can create a biography of these two people. Find official documents: did they own land? What about the census documents of that era? Can you locate a will for either of them? Study the information that you have, locate more information, and then work out which one was your ancestor. Certain names were popular in families, and in localities, because there was such a small marriage pool: people didnt travel far in the 19th century and earlier, because travel was expensive and difficult. Names were passed on from generation to generation. This makes it difficult for you, so many years later, trying to work out who's who. Chemical peels are also often used to even out skin pigmentation and may possibly reduce pore size. The mechanism of action includes the dissolving the glue that holds the top layers of the skin together, allowing them to be removed by gentle wiping. By removing the top layer and dead skin, chemical peels reduce the probability of pore-plugging and acne formation. Modern microdermabrasion in a physicians offices use aluminum oxide crystals forcefully sent at the skin surface to physically cause microdamage to loosen the top layers of the skin. At the same time, a powerful vacuum immediately withdraws the crystals after skin contact. The skin is left slightly red for a day or two, but this procedure leaves the skin to heal with a radiant and shining glow. Acne formation should decrease, pore size may minimize with chronic use, and superficial wrinkles may be lessened. Home microdermabrasion kits bring home the ability to use crystals to cause mild exfoliation, leaving the skin refreshed, shining, and glowing. Some kits use a mechanical battery-powered applicator while some kits and creams are sufficiently applied by the user via pads or soft rubbing. Weekly or biweekly use is an excellent method of promoting healthy looking skin and minimizing acne formation. Chronic use is also effective in minimizing pore appearance and may decrease superficial wrinkles around the lower eyelid, mouth, and forehead. Enjoy the soft, glowing appearance of your skin with home microdermabrasion. Several home microdermabrasion kits are shown below. Obtain extra effectiveness by combining your home microdermabrasion with regular glycolic acid or salicylic acid product use. Concurrent use with retinol products will also provide added anti-aging results. Physician's Skincare Group, LLC. 2006. All Rights Reserved.
