Successful on the Outside, Lonely on the Inside: Our Hidden Epidemic
by lesli vonck - Tuesday, May 27 2008, 09:28 PM
Anyone in the world
By Laura Young I say "Loneliness. Isolation. Invisibility." You ask "Eleanor Rigby?" I say "No. Your co-worker. The person next to you in the grocery store. The new CEO they just hired. The person who just repaired your washing machine. It's all around you." It is one of the least recognized and most wide-spread social epidemics of our time. I've been hearing this issue come up among clients for several years now. It's time we started to talk about this publicly. Here's what I am hearing: "I feel like my life purpose is to just make money for my family...I'm a huge wallet to them. I don't really matter." "I've been there for everyone and everything else...I give myself to my job, my spouse, my kids, my extended family, the bills. Honestly, when you ask me what I want, I don't even have enough of a relationship with myself to be able to know. I keep thinking 'if I only had time for myself', but I wouldn't know what to do with it if I did." "People keep telling me I should be grateful. I have so much. I feel guilty because I know they are right in a way but I can't help thinking that there has to be more than this. It seems like all I do is work, watch TV, crash, and start all over again. I'm not passionate about my life or what I do. This can't be all there is." "I'm really lonely. The truth is, I don't REALLY have friends that understand me and get where I'm coming from. Sure, we go out and have dinner, and see people socially, but it isn't like I can confide in them. They don't seem to think about the same things I do. I yearn for those conversations that used to happen in the wee hours when I was in college but now we just seem to end up talking about movies, and the kids and what we are thinking of buying next for the house." I'm hearing comments like these from every corner...doctors, business executives, stay-at-home parents, coaches (yes, I said coaches), IT professionals, service professionals, entrepreneurs, those out of the workforce due to illness or retirement...men and women, adults of all ages. Six folks gathered in a group I conducted recently who, despite being spread across the country and having very diverse backgrounds, kept coming back to the same issue: Is it me? Is this really all there is? Surely there has to be more? I just can't sit here anymore and let my life go by! One astute member recognized that what the folks in the group are seeking is "self-actualization". For those of you unfamiliar with the term, it was introduced by Abraham Maslow who postulated that we have a Hierarchy of Needs. Basically, the first needs are food, clothes, shelter...security...later we want to be individuals, break away from our parents...then we keep moving up and start thinking about being productive and creating and generating and up at the top of the list we have Self-Actualization. We don't all get there. Arguably very few may even try. This is the stuff of "Why I am here?" "What does it mean to be ME in this life?" Big questions. Hairy questions. Deathbed questions for some. Too scary to ever consider for others. And for others a compelling quest. Well, if any of this resonates with you I want you to consider why the journey is particularly hard. In the U.S. (can't speak for elsewhere) we have a culture that actively discourages self actualization. As a culture, we are stuck in the basic food, clothing, shelter level (and let's not forget all those ads for 'physical enhancement' in our e-mail boxes). After 9/11 we were told that the most patriotic and brave thing we could do was go shopping. For God's sake, don't let them think they can keep us out of the malls that easy! Our economy NEEDS you! The message is: Our economy needs you to be focused on the most basic needs...keep feathering your nest. We are encouraged to be addicted to material possessions. Yes, addicted...have you ever bought something you really didn't need because it was such a great price? I'll admit it. I have. It's very seductive, all this "stuff". And it is FEAR that perpetuates this pattern. Can you be a CEO and drive a 10 year old Ford? Can you wear that 5 year old dress to the office party or interview? Can your kids wear non-name brand sneakers to the t-ball game? We get tempted to buck the system ('next Christmas I am not going to buy all this crap...the kids don't even appreciate it...I don't even remember what I got last year!') but then the questions come: What will people think? What will they assume about me? What will it cost me if I don't play this game anymore? Can I afford to pay that price? Is my family willing to pay that price even if I am? Why can't I just be happy? What is wrong with me? Is this a mid-life crisis? What WOULD happen to the economy if we all decided to simplify??? So, you see, loneliness, isolation, alienation, confusion. It's built right in to the mix. If you are feeling this yourself, please know you are not alone. FAR from it. It's all around you. So, what do you do? Stop being afraid to talk about it. That's a start. Find a safe place to talk. Find the right place for you. I hear the pain every day (and the joy that comes with living more authentically in accordance with one's values). This is a hard path. I've been on it for a long time. Every day I am heartened to see more and more people daring to challenge the status quo of their lives. If you've been feeling it, just know you aren't the only one going through this. Laura Young is a personal development and business coach. Do Not Be Upstaged At Your Own Wedding!
by lesli vonck - Tuesday, May 27 2008, 09:22 PM
Anyone in the world
By Kathleen Storment The bride and her family had planned the most elegant wedding I have ever attended. Every detail that money could buy was remembered. The bride had obviously been planning her dream wedding for years. There were seven gorgeous attendants in exquisite dresses and an equal number of handsome groomsmen. The bride and groom had selected the most adorable three-year-old to be their flower girl. She did a wonderful job of strewing petals down the aisle. It was when she reached the altar that her "one woman" show began. The ceremony continued while the little princess ran back and forth and back and forth upstaging any other activity that should have been the center of attention. Her grandmother tried to discreetly coax her to the pews...no luck! Her mother was one of the attendants, and obviously did not deem it necessary to grab her and go. Even the bride showed signs of annoyance. The bride should have been the "princess" on display that day. Instead she was upstaged by a three year old! There are lessons to be learned here. Plan for the unexpected. If you are going to choose a very young flower girl or ring bearer, make an arrangement for them during the ceremony. This wedding, frankly, would not have missed the bridesmaid-mommy. After all, there were six more! The bride deserves to be the center of attention...not an adorable, but uncontrollable flower girl! When guests reflect on this wedding, they remember the flower girl and her antics. With all the money spent and planning done for years previous to the ceremony, what should be remembered is all the details, the beautiful bride, and handsome groom. Do not let a three-year-old spoil the most important day of your lives! Kathleen Storment is the co-owner of KDS Sales, LLC. What Is Bond Market?
by lesli vonck - Saturday, May 24 2008, 02:18 AM
Anyone in the world
By Mike Singh A bond is a debt obligation or security, where the the holder or buyer expects the holder to repay the principal and interest at maturity (a date in the future). The bond market is a financial market where these bonds are bought and sold. To get an estimate of the size of these debt securities markets you should bear in mind that the international bond market is approximately $45 trillion and the size of U.S. bond market debt is about $25.2 trillion. How are these markets structured? Quite different from the stock, futures and options markets, most of the trading volume in bond markets takes place between brokers and large financial institutions in an over-the-counter market. But, a couple of bonds, primarily corporate ones, are listed on exchanges. This is partly due to the differences in bonds. What are the various types of bond markets? The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association(SIFMA) classifies the bond market into the following categories: 1) Corporate In simple terms, corporate debt securities are IOU's issued by corporations so that they can use this cash to support their day-to-day operations and generate greater profits in the future. All sorts of corporations issue corportate debt. These could range from industrial, financial companies to service-related ones. 2) Government and Agency As the name suggests, government and agency debt is issued by different government-sponsored enterprises (GSEs). These entities have been created by Congress to fund loans at affordable rates to certain kinds of borrowers (such as students, farmers and homeowners). GSEs mostly rely on debt financing for their daily operations. Some examples of GSEs in this regard - Fannie Mae, Sallie Mae, Federal Farm Credit System Banks etc. 3) Municipal Municipal securities are debt securities issued by counties, cities, states, and other governmental entities to raise money to build/maintain infrastructure such as highways, schools, hospitals, and drainage systems. This is perhaps the the state and local governments in the United States finance their cash flow requirements. One great appeal of investing in municipal bonds is that the interest on these securities is exempt from the federal income taxes. 4) Mortgage Backed Securities and Asset-Backed Securities Financial institutions issue mortgage debt securities to those interested in ownership of mortgage loans. These are loans that are used to finance the borrower's purchase of homes or other real estate. As the underlying loans (mortgages) are being paid off, the investors receive interest payments in addition to their principal being paid off. Some examples of agencies that issue these debt securities are - Ginnie Mae (Government National Mortgage Association), Fannie Mae (Federal National Mortgage Association) and Freddie Mac (Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation). Asset-backed securities (ABS) are similar in mortgage securities in that they represent an interest in a variety of assets such as auto loans, auto leases, home equity loans, or credit card receivables. The investors in these debt securities receive interest payments in addition to their principal as the underlying loan is being paid off. In summary, you have learnt what bond markets are, the different types of bond markets and the different players in these markets. Does the world of bonds have your head spinning? Job Interview Answers to 15 Tough Questions
by lesli vonck - Saturday, May 24 2008, 12:26 AM
Anyone in the world
By Ed Bagley 13) Do you have references? It is not a good idea to give references at the resume stage. References are far more appropriate at the interview stage, and even then, do not give references unless they ask for them. When and if they ask, always have them available at the interview. The reason you do not want to be giving references at the resume stage is that, if they can read your resume and check your references and—on that basis—make a decision not to interview or hire you, you have done yourself a real disservice. You want to get in front of people (secure interviews). Give them the resume, but not the references unless they ask for them. Most prospects give names, addresses and phone numbers for references when asked. It is better not to do this. It inconveniences the interviewer in that they have to call to get the reference. And while you think you know what someone may say about you, the fact is, you do not. The references being called may not be available, or may be on vacation. They may have left the firm, been fired or laid off since you last checked their availability. Therefore, it is best to use written references only. Have the person put the written reference about you on the company’s or organization's letterhead so it looks official, and have them sign it. If the person giving the reference will not put it on company letterhead because it is against company policy, then have them use a plain sheet of paper. They can still use their name, company position, and company name at the bottom of the letter. Usually, written references are taken at face value. Oftentimes, with a written reference, a call is made only to verify employment. Many candidates think that written references have to come from the big boss, or their immediate supervisor. You have other options if your boss or supervisor will not do it for you, or if you would not want them to do it for you. When you have little work experience and have volunteered at your church, have your priest or pastor write a reference attesting to your character, ambition, dependability and productivity. When you have worked with key employees, supervisors or managers of other companies, ask them to write you a reference attesting to your professionalism and ability to work with people. When you have worked closely with vendors, suppliers, or their sales representatives, ask them to write you a letter of reference. You could even have another person holding the same position at another company, who you have worked with, write you a reference. Ask a lot of people to write references because many of them will agree to do it and be happy to do it, but, unfortunately, you are not on the top of their priority list. You can be forgotten despite their good intentions to help you. Ask a lot of people and realize that for every 10 people you ask who are willing to do it and happy to do it, you will be doing very well to get 1 or 2 to actually do it. And, when all else fails, remember that any written job evaluations you have can also be used as references until you can secure written references. You do not need a lot of references. Two or three are adequate, and they can be personal (about you) as well as professional (about the job you do). 14) Do you have any questions? It is very important that you have questions at the interview. Any question you ask shows an indicated interest, or genuine concern on your part. When any of the basic questions about the job have not been covered in the interview, this is a good time to ask about salary, benefits, what is expected, how you will be evaluated, and the opportunities for advancement. Other good questions include: "Is your company or organization growing?" (Growing organizations create jobs and promotions.) "What happened to the last person who held the position?" (Maybe they were not fired or incompetent. Maybe the company offered no advancement or salary increases, encouraged lousy working conditions, or refused to get rid of an incompetent boss.) "How committed are you to research and development?" (Companies that invest in their future plan to be successful, profitable, and on the cutting edge of what is happening in their industry.) "How fast can people who perform be promoted?" (You want to know that, when you produce, you will be compensated for your effort rather than draw the same salary as another employee who produces far less by comparison.) "Is this company family owned and operated?" (When it is, you can forget getting anywhere very fast; all of the relatives will get the positions, and this will happen in many cases whether the relatives are competent or not.) "Is there any possibility of an equity interest in the future?" (Buying in, even on a little scale, can be lucrative. More than one employee has become a millionaire by taking advantage of stock options. Look at the fortunes people made when they hooked up with Microsoft, when the software giant grew so rapidly.) Your Muscles - Made to Move!
by lesli vonck - Wednesday, May 21 2008, 05:40 AM
Anyone in the world
By Diana Chaloux Jumping, running, swimming, biking, climbing, twirling and skipping! What do all of these things have in common? First, they are all fun! Second, they are all types of exercise, and third, each of these activities requires you to use your muscles! Muscles are what make it possible for you to move your body. If you didnt have muscles you wouldnt be able to move at all! When your muscles are strong and in good shape, it makes it so you can do things such as running, swimming, jumping or playing sports and games more easily. There are over 600 muscles located right within your body! These muscles come in three different types. Did you know that your heart is a muscle? Thats right! It is called a cardiac muscle. You dont have control over this type of muscle, it works without you even thinking about it! Your body also has smooth muscle. Just like your heart, these muscles work completely on their own! Your stomach has smooth muscles in it, and so do your eyes! The third and most familiar type of muscle is called skeletal muscle. You can actually see many of your skeletal muscles moving underneath your skin. Lets take a moment and locate one of the most familiar skeletal muscles, the biceps (bye-seps). This muscle is located on the front side of your arm. First, hold your arm straight out to your side, keep your palm facing up towards the ceiling. Now look straight down your arm and you will see the biceps muscle right between your shoulder and your elbow. Make a fist and bend your elbow in, as you do this you will see the biceps muscle working! When your muscle is working and tightening like this it is called a contraction, when you stretch your arm back out your biceps lengthen and relax. Do this movement a couple of times, use your opposite hand to feel the biceps muscle contract (or tighten) and relax. You may even think it feels like there is a small egg or baseball right in your arm! Muscles come in all different shapes and sizes. Some of your largest muscles can be found in your legs. These muscles spring into action anytime you stand or sit, walk or run, swim, skate or jump and so much more! You have muscles all over your body. There are muscles in your hands which help you to write, your shoulders which help you to raise your hand during class, in your neck to help you turn your head to the side and even in your face to make it so you can smile! It is important to keep ALL of our muscles strong and fit. Not only will we be able to move our bodies more easily, but our bodies will also stay healthy. When we dont take care of our bodies they can get sick and weak, when that happens they dont move well and that is not fun at all! The best way to keep your muscles in shape is to use them and exercise every day! There are so many different and fun ways to exercise. Whether you choose to jump rope, go swimming, go for a walk or run, play a sport or play a game of tag with your friends, you will be working your muscles and keeping your body healthy. So what are you waiting for? Choose the activity that you enjoy the most and start moving your body today! Diana Chaloux is the co-founder and owner of Destined 2 Be Fit (www.destined2befit.com). 6 Simple Ways to Determine Which Marketing Ideas Are Best for Your Business
by lesli vonck - Wednesday, May 21 2008, 03:47 AM
Anyone in the world
By Jennifer McCay Did something catch your eye in a direct mailing this past week? Have you recently gone to a website and encountered something entirely new that caught your attention? Did a friend of yours try out a new marketing idea and generate a few thousand dollars of extra business overnight? As a small business owner, it's all too easy to get caught up in the hype of new marketing techniques that promise quick rewards for little cash. I'll even admit that we copywriters are trained to overcome your psychological objections to buying what we're selling so that you're ready to whip out your wallet right then and there. And especially in certain marketing circles, the marketing materials for a new whizbang idea are so compelling, you're driven to dump everything you've been doing in order to start trying the latest, greatest end-all be-all marketing technique right away. But this can be dangerous to your bottom line -- or even your entire business. Whenever you try out a new marketing idea, it's important to proceed with caution. Here are 6 quick tips to keep you on track: 1. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." If you have been sending out a direct mailing that steadily brings in business at a rate that you are happy with, don't stop using this technique just to put new life in your marketing plan. Instead, test different types of offers/approaches/what have you using a small portion of your mailing list (10% is a good start), see what works best and then test some more using that approach as your control. Make sure that you apply whatever you learn from these tests to your other campaigns, and then test some more. 2. Measure your results in order to determine what works best. There's no reason to try something new if you're not able to see what works. For example, I recently tested a different approach on a page on my website that is solely dedicated to generating subscriptions to my Avenues to Marketing Success Newsletter. To see if the new copy worked, I sent traffic from one source to the new page and tested the old version of copy against the new. I then tweaked the version that worked best until I found a balance that got the best response from my target audience of small business owners. 3. Marketing isn't just about the numbers. Sometimes a marketing campaign doesn't work its magic right then and there. It has a slower, but longer-lasting effect that will generate long-term sales for you and build trust in your group of prospects. This is a concept so near and dear to my heart that I'm literally writing a book on this, in fact, and I have found that over time, even campaigns that don't generate an immediate boost in income have residual effects that ensure the longevity of your business. So remember that you're selling to people who need time to warm up to you and might not respond the first time you try a new marketing tactic. Give it a little time. 4. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. I can't count the number of times I've had clients approach me wanting to use a new marketing idea because 3 people gave testimonials on a website stating that they made millions overnight. I don't doubt the authenticity of many, many of these testimonials, which often come from reputable marketers who have built a legitimate business rapidly, but there is a reason why the vendors selling these sorts of products use disclaimers stating that the income earned is atypical and may not work out for you. Their market is not yours, their circumstances are not yours, and most good things require work to accomplish, regardless of what is claimed. But don't let this discourage you. After all ... 5. It's always OK to try something new; just make sure not to discontinue the marketing you've been doing that gets results. The 10% rule works here as well. Spend 90% of your time and money on marketing that you know has worked before and will work again and again, and use the other 10% to try new techniques. This way you won't miss out on a stellar new idea, but you also won't bankrupt your business if your technique fails. 6. Wait 3 days to decide. That's all. Just wait. Sure, it's tempting to jump right in the moment you read scrumptiously mouthwatering copy that shows you how countless business people before you have turned tiny businesses into multimillion-dollar conglomerates ONLY if you buy today, but that's the point: The copy is designed to get you to act now. Even as a copywriter myself who's fully aware of the sales techniques involved (and uses them when it makes sense and is ethical to do so), I know how hard it can be to resist the temptation to buy the very moment you encounter it; it happens to me as well, and theoretically I should know better. To ensure that you're making an educated decision, stick a note in your calendar to revisit the idea after 3 days and see if it still looks as good as it did the day you first encountered it. In any case, expanding your marketing horizons to include new marketing ideas is always helpful if it allows you to learn more about what your prospects are looking for. Just proceed with caution, use a little moderation and you'll see what works and what doesn't in short order. Green Tea, Weight Loss and More!
by lesli vonck - Sunday, May 18 2008, 11:40 PM
Anyone in the world
By Sylvia Riley Green tea is has become a daily favorite of mine in view of its awesome health virtues. Funny how something tastes better the healthier you think it is for you! So, what are the remarkable benefits of this auspicious drink? Green tea has been found to promote weight loss, reduce the risk of heart attack, prevent against cancer, protect your teeth and gums and offer relief for arthritis. Not bad for a leaf! These traits are due to a super concentration of antioxidants called catechins known for their outstanding health traits. Weight Loss Enhancement Green tea can actually promote weight loss which makes it a very friendly cuppa if shedding pounds is the objective, and a great ally in any healthy weight loss regime. A study led by Dr. Dulloo at the University of Geneva, published in the December 1999 issue of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, found that men given a combination of both caffeine and green tea extract burned more calories than those given caffeine or placebo alone. Results found that the men taking green tea extract had a significant increase in their measured energy expenditure (the number of calories used in a 24 hour period) and significant decrease in their respiration quotient (how well the body utilized carbohydrates, proteins and fats over a 24 hour period) over those taking just caffeine or placebo. The men taking green tea extract also used more fat calories than the placebo group. The scientists believed that the catechin flavonoids in the green tea extract (potent antioxidants) may alter the body's use of norepinephrine, a chemical transmitter in the nervous system, to increase the rate of calorie burning. They concluded, Green tea has thermogenic properties and promotes fat oxidation beyond that explained by its caffeine content per se. The green tea extract may play a role in the control of body composition via sympathetic activation of thermogenesis, fat oxidation, or both. Pro Heart The cholesterol-lowering effects of green tea and black tea have been confirmed in countless studies. The French Paradox, namely the French high fat diet with comparably low rates of heart disease, is believed to be due to the flavonoid resveratrol found in wine. In 1997, researchers from the University of Kansas found catachin EGCG in green tea to be twice as powerful as resveratrol, which may explain why heart disease rates among Japanese men is quite low despite around 75 per cent of them being smokers. In one 25 year study (the Zutphen Elderly Study; Hertog, M., et al., 1993), those that drank more than 8.5 ounces of tea per day had a much lower risk of experiencing or dying from heart attacks than those drinking less tea. Test tube studies have also found that green tea decreases the clumping of blood cells, reducing the risk of clotting associated with heart attacks and strokes. Cancer Protective Human and animal studies suggest green tea may be preventive against a variety of cancers including bladder, colon, esophageal, breast, pancreas, rectum, and stomach. In 1994 the Journal of the National Cancer Institute published a study that indicated drinking green tea reduced the risk of esophageal cancer in Chinese men and women by nearly sixty percent! Aid For Arthritis The anti-inflammatory action of green tea, due to its flavonoid content, has shown promise for arthritis relief. Research by scientists at Case Western University (Haqqi et al., 1999), suggests that green tea antioxidants serve to postpone the onset and decrease the severity of one type of arthritis in mice. Tea for your Teeth Green tea is touted for oral health by asian practitioners and recent scientific research supports this use. Studies in animals and humans have shown how green tea can effectively combat the bacteria that causes cavities in teeth. Green tea also contains fluoride that is protective for teeth. Green tea is a fantastic health ally and a refreshing and cleansing drink. If purchased loose a few leaves can be added to other herbal teas for variety. Four Reasons to Consolidate your Student Loans On or Before July 1st 2006
by lesli vonck - Sunday, May 18 2008, 09:47 PM
Anyone in the world
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Chris_Studer]Chris Studer Every year, student loan interest rates are reconfigured on July 1st. In recent years, this date has come and gone with no cause for alarm, but this year is different. As part of a plan to heal the nations $40 billion budget deficit, the Senate passed a plan to cut $12.7 billion from the federal student loan program between 2006 and 2011. The impact on students is a drastic interest rate hike on all federal student loans including the Stafford loan, the PLUS loan, the Consolidation loan, and the Perkins loan. 1. Student loan interest rate hike After July 1st, the interest rate on new Federal Stafford loans will jump from a variable 4.7 percent to a fixed 6.8 percent while PLUS loans will increase from a variable 6.1 percent to a fixed 8.5 percent. The way to avoid these skyrocketing interest rates is to lock into todays low fixed rate by consolidating your loans. 2. Last chance for in school consolidations Under the new legislation, students that are still in school wont be able to consolidate their loans after July 1st, 2006. Its more important than ever for current students and those who are in their post-graduation grace period to seize this current window of opportunity to refinance and lock in the current rate before July 1st. 3. The 1st of July means the end of spousal consolidations Another student loan consolidating restriction will be imposed on the spousal consolidation loan. For years, married couples have enjoyed the simplicity and financial benefits of consolidating their student loan payments. Married couples still have the chance to take advantage of this opportunity by applying for a spousal consolidation loan before July 1st. 4. Youre stuck with your lender Starting on July 1st, borrowers will no longer have the opportunity to consolidate existing Consolidation loans with a different lender. Unless the current lender does not offer a consolidation loan with income sensitive repayment terms, borrowers wont have any options when it comes to shopping around more attractive offers and companies. Steps to take on or before July 1st If you havent already consolidated your student loans, contact a student loan consulting and refinancing lender as soon as possible. Go online and compare various online loan companies, read up on loan terminology, use online calculators to understand your potential savings, and get in touch with a student loan consolidation expert with a list of questions. Student loan consolidation already offers a wealth of benefits, not to mention the newest benefit as a safe haven from the July 1st interest rate hikes. Because payments are combined and spread out over a longer period of time, monthly payments are reduced, freeing up cash flow for young adults who are just beginning their careers. Additionally, having only one open loan is more beneficial in terms of credit rating as opposed to numerous open loans that can lower an overall FICO score. Refinancing before July 1st still gives students one last chance to lock in low interest rates and take advantage of other soon-to-be cut money saving opportunities and programs. Is Running for Weight Loss Good for Losing Fat?

By Dr. Alan Jenks This is a million dollar question that has been asked by most overweight individuals. Running can be a very rapid weight loss secret, but that doesnt make it magical or fast. Most of the runners especially with the intention of reducing their weight, may increase a few pounds early on as their body prefers more dense muscle tissue in the place of fat. But if they continue with the program, theyll literally run off the excess fat. There is no need to run fast or win races, you simply have to be disciplined enough to perform relaxed running for 20 to 25 miles a week. You may loose at least 25 pounds and you may succeed to burn about 2,500 calories per week through this planned exercise. Most people know that long aerobic exercises like running are catabolic meaning your body burns energy. Always run slow, steady and long. Slow running say for 75 minutes or more can put your fat in a burn off mode, where your body tries to utilize the stored fats in the adipose tissue. You should perform at least two long runs per week with good planning. There is no need to gallop like an athlete, simply start in slow pace and run smooth, steady and fast for about 15 seconds. Then slow down, jog for couple of minutes until you feel recovered, and do another stride. This rhythmic run may help to boost your after burners and help melt the fat. All athletes, in all sports, use running as a system for control and conditioning of their body. Running burns more calories, and as a result, more fat, than most any form of cardiovascular exercise. Cross-country skiing is the only form of exercise that equals or exceeds the calorie burn of running. If you are a couch potato, just get off the couch and start walking first. As you start to develop more tone and endurance challenge yourself to run. This will up the challenge in the body and help you lose more weight. Try it! You can visualize the melting fats right before your eyes. Dr. Alan Jenks is a best selling author and health and wellness specialist. Money Equals Love

Anyone in the world
By Skye Thomas When we think of prosperity and of creating abundance, its easy enough to see how working at a job that we love helps us to earn more money then if we worked at a job we hated. We can also see that if we add plenty of love and warm-fuzzies towards how we treat our coworkers, bosses, employees, and customers, then it makes sense that people will like doing business with us and well again earn more money. We can understand how putting our love into the product or service that we sell makes for a superior product or service and therefore raises the perceived value of that product or service. Heres the hard part it holds true in our personal relationships too. How many women complain that their husbands dont spend enough time with them? The wife complains that her husband doesnt appear to really care about her. She thinks there is a lack of deep emotional connection between the two of them. You dont say that you love me! Therefore you must not love me! He quickly points out that her argument that his lack of flowers and romantic words doesnt mean that he doesnt love her. After all, he works hard to earn enough money so that she can live in the house they share and so that she can choose to work or shop or raise kids or whatever it is she does with her time. She says that she appreciates the money, but its not the same as love. It all can be condensed down to this she doesnt see money as a symbol of love the way that he does. So many men feel that all of their long hours working to support their families is disregarded and theyre bitched at for not spending enough quality time with her and the kids. Time is money. That makes sense. Bosses hire employees for their time on the job. Most people get paid by the hour or a monthly salary. How much they get paid is determined by their expertise and the quality of work they perform, but ultimately the boss is paying you to do what he does not have the time to do himself. Love is time. When you love someone, you naturally want to spend quality time with them. You miss them when theyre gone too long. Go to any retirement home or a home for abused children. The most important thing to these people is the personal time that you give them. Studies have shown that teenagers who spend a lot of quality time with their families are far less likely to experiment with drugs and alcohol. When you volunteer your time to a charity, a school, or a political campaign, its because you love what it stands for. Time is a non-renewable resource. We have a set number of hours each day that we can experience life. We can fritter it away laying out in the yard on a sunny day doing nothing much or we can organize the heck out of it making sure we live every single moment to the fullest. Sometimes we find out in advanced that were sick and have x number of days, weeks, months left to live. Usually, we have no idea how many days we have left. So, when we give the boss our time in order to earn money for those that we love, then we are in a way giving the loved one our time. The husband could decide that hed rather sit around watching TV all day or hed rather go fishing, but instead he goes to work everyday so that his wife can have a nice house and nice things to put in it. He has given her his fishing time and his TV watching time. Yeah, he still needs to spend some time talking and connecting on an emotional level because all money and no romance is very lonely. However, she needs to see that he has in a round-about way given her his time and energy. He really is trying to give her a gift of his heart. To illustrate the point even further, we love professional athletes, musicians, actors, and other entertainers so much that well pay a fortune to see them perform. Those highly paid athletes are making that kind of money because we love them! If we didnt love them, then they wouldnt get the ticket sales. It wouldnt matter how well they threw the ball if nobody wanted to watch them do it. Famous celebrities are rich because they have a lot of people who love their work. This is not to say that its okay to give money in lieu of love, but rather that for many men, this is their greatest symbolic gesture. Remember too, they are hunters at heart. The caveman had to bring in the dinner or his loved ones would perish. They give money like women give hugs and kisses to babies. Look at the single mom who cannot spend time with her children because shes always working to financially support them. Its not because she doesnt love them. Men need to remember too, that ONLY giving money as a symbol of their love is like a woman ONLY cooking and cleaning as a symbol of her love. Both are huge gifts of the heart, but they are certainly not the only gifts that are needed for a strong bond. Money does equal love, but there are many additional forms of love to share. Women hate to feel like theyre just a paid housekeeper, cook, and chauffeur in a relationship. Men hate to feel like theyre just a life support system for a wallet. Money cant buy love and love alone wont create money, but the two are able to be converted back and forth into each other. The one can equate to the other. Love can make you prosperous, and sometimes money means I love you.
