Anyone in the world By Gillian Tarawhiti The big question at the end of the last article was whether the DIET MONKEY would loosen its grip or hold on for dear life. The answer that DIET MONKEY is alive and well and hasnt loosen its grip at all. In fact I think for some it has moved in and taken up residency. It has been amazing to see that all the other participants in the Biggest Losers club, method of losing weight involved starving themselves, when that didnt work because they ended up gorging themselves, they tried pills and shakes, then for some reason that didnt work so they went back to starving themselves againwhich didnt work. So the cycle was never ending, hence that DIET MONKEY taking up residency. All the participants fell into the 3 reasons why we fail at dieting category being: fanatical dieting, emotional eating or conditioning. The fanatical dieters jumped from one diet to another, the emotional eaters had no idea why they were eating continuously other than they THOUGHT they were hungry and those who fell into the conditioning pattern, did what they knew starving themselves, because that is what they have always done (regardless that it never worked in the past). Our Biggest Losers challenge ended and as a writer Ive gained a lot of subject matter that would fill at least 2 or 3 books on the fact that DIETS DONT WORK. Oh by the wayI WAS THE BIGGEST LOSER. I of course, had an unfair advantage because I used a program I created, called Gain Back Your Life Weight Loss Program. This program has helped others lose weight and keep it off. Let's face it; historian is not one of the sexiest career choices in the world. Whatever kind of history you pick, be it military history, government history or that popular catchall "world history," there's just not a lot of glamour. Food history, however, is a different kettle of (poached) fish entirely. The most common title given to a practitioner of food history is that of culinary anthropologist. This is a fascinating field, in which world cuisines are researched and related across a broad spectrum. One of the most famous faces in this field is Deb Duchon, whose face will be familiar to viewers of the hit Food Network series "Good Eats" featuring Alton Brown. Deb is the go-to woman for anything involving food history for the show, and is seen on-camera frequently. Culinary anthropology will take you around the world, as well. Consider the humble flatbread, a food item found in almost every world culture. In South America, it's the tortilla. In Europe, it's the crepe, and in America it most often takes the form of a pancake, although our culture is so homogenized that all the others take equal prominence. Basically, it's a simple, unleavened or lightly leavened bread that can be used either as a food on its own or to wrap around other foods to make them portable. In the process of researching the history of this food, a culinary anthropologist from a Texas university traveled all over the world, appearing on cooking shows and local-interest programming from Bangkok to Dublin. Food history is more than just culinary anthropology, though. Any major history project needs someone who can serve as the voice of authority on what the people or culture involved ate, and you'll always find jobs there. Anyone in the world By Vitae Bergman Respectrespectrespect. This is major to a long and successful marriage. All too often, in my practice as a spiritual counselor, I
find couples have derailed their mutual respect in many
subtle and not-so-subtle ways through their style of
intimacy. They mistakenly believe being married gives them license to
get into each other's head. Too many married couples, soon
after tying the knot-or even before-begin to treat each
other the way each one treats him/herself. This is what many
of my clients think intimacy is about. With this style of intimacy, we project on to our spouse all
the demoralizing, self-inflicting wounds we give to
ourselves. Whatever baggage we carry, we thrust upon our
partner. Hidden anger, self-doubt, and fear-to identify our
most common failings-get tossed back and forth between the
partners. In other words, we treat our spouse as badly as we
treat ourselves. It is my impression, we are more kind to strangers. We ought
to treat our spouses as kindly as we treat a stranger.
Politeness is not the same as coldness or aloofness.
Civility is the beginning of positive intimacy. And that
sort of intimacy is worth internalizing. From treating our
spouse in a kindly fashion, we can learn from our own
behavior and begin to treat ourselves more kindly. By that,
I don't mean pandering ourselves with over-indulgence of our
appetites or by avoiding challenges. I don't mean taking the
easy way out. By exercising kindness to ourselves, we discontinue
harboring negative ideas about ourselves. We stop self-
judgmental habits; we stop trying to prove we are okay be
resorting to perfectionism; we stop nursing past hurts; we
stop anticipating future insults. And by clearing our mental
house of negative self-intimacy, we are then more able and
willing to be kindly disposed to our beloved other. Treating our spouse as politely as we treat a stranger makes
for an easier process when it comes to dealing with issues
and differences. Having grown to be more kind toward
ourselves, we have learned how to be an observer of our
inner as well as outer behaviors. We become a witness to our
actions and thoughts. We learn to understand ourselves
better. And thinking more kindly about ourselves, we have
enabled ourselves to move through our negotiations with our
spouse from a higher perspective. It is as if we were
standing at the top of a mountain looking down and seeing
with more clarity all that is happening below. We have learned to see our emotions from some amount of
distance, enough to be open to hearing more clearly what the
other needs to say. We listen to each other without
defending ourselves, without seeking to change the other.
Just listening, just hearing without heavy emotional
involvement, makes all the difference in the world. This is
the way of polite negotiation. This is the way marriages are
sustained, are nurtured, and ripen. Generally, people are attracted to an opposite type. We see
in the other characteristics and behaviors we secretly wish
were ours. At first, being with our opposite is a positive
delight. Until it happens-and it generally happens-that each
partner, to some extent or another, attempts to change the
others habits, behaviors, attitudes, and beliefs. Those very
attributes we were attracted to in the first place begin to
threaten. The honeymoon is over when one partner starts working on the
other attempting to get the other to become more like him or
her. Because the partner harbors unconscious doubts about
her/himself, because of the negative intimacy the person
inflicts on her/himself, the need to change the other-to
take on his/her characteristics and attitudes-is a way to
alleviate some of that doubt. If she is more like me, then I
must be okay. This is the path to a hostile environment. In such a
marriage, delight in each other dries up, the warmth and
love desired evaporates. The partners have a sense of too
many differences separating them from each other. If they
persist in remaining connected, their life becomes one of
quiet desperation. If the two are still civil with each
other, the civility is brittle. There is no kindness, no
loving, and caring feeling between them. Many marriages persist in this manner for various reasons, financial being the most prominent. But if each partner practices self-kindness and a detached
witnessing of self, then each can allow the other the space
needed in which to grow. Gradually, the gap between
differences narrows; each has shifted somewhat in attitude
and behavior; each has miraculously become more like the
other. And then it becomes a joy for the two to be together.
Each has realized the pleasure of having become more like
that person they were attracted to in the beginning. Such a ripening can be the consequence of a lengthy and
successful marriage. We become more whole. This is why we

I am not sure about you but this Scripture knocks me for a six. This scripture I wish, was not in the Bible as it convicts me so much and takes away all my excuses and turns my life into a life of sin. I am essentially a lazy guy who has a floor that needs a vacuum, and I have not got a cleaner and all I have is a broom. So do you think I sweep my carpet and floor each week? No, of course not! My house is dirty and I sin in this. 17 Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.
If only I had a wife or a secretary that cleaned for me, or I could afford to pay a maid to do my cleaning and then I dont have to feel so bad.. The Bible says I dont need all of this. I need to see myself and humble myself and then do the cleaning myself. I have recently had a new mental health worker, and each week for homework, I have to do homework which is one cleaning job. Two weeks this has humbled me and had me clean my house in ways. I have been humbled and given more grace and had to draw near to God, reject Satan and work through my sin. When it came to it and I had a person coming the next day to check if I had cleaned my dining room and the lounge room, I submitted to God and turned on the radio and sang and started to do a miracle. My pride would have said, I dont have to do this, I dont care about my homework. I can give her an excuse and yet humility made me clean like I havent in a long time. 7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. The Christian radio station allowed me to put my thoughts on God, and as I did what was right I resisted the thoughts to give up as Satan placed them in my head. Mist people think they can resist the Devil and He will flee. They cannot flee the Devil unless they are committed to doing something opposite for God. First you have to submit to Gods will. I submitted to God and promised the case worker that I would clean my house, and stayed true to this and worked right past laziness to the drastic change. About here months ago I left a sex addiction, and now I am preparing to collect all my articles and put them in a book. All my income is going towards proof reading and things I need to get to that goal. Putting my money toward all the right things is submitting to God. When the temptation then comes to see a sex worker, it is not as hard to resist because I have already a reason to invest my money for God, and a way to fight the temptation as it would take money away from my goal. You see if you are sinning you first have to make a promise to God to so something that is the opposite of what your sin has you do. This is submitting to God. It is vital and can only be done if your draw near to God and do some weeping. James 4:8-10 (New King James Version)

If God has put it on your heart to tithe 10% of your income to your church and you dont do it, you are sinning. If God has put it on your heart to support a ministry and you have not sent them money, you are sinning and you need to cry about it and change your ways. God will lift you up and give you the courage and the faith to give. This verse promises that! Now its tempting to start to point to other people and say that if this person stopped judging me or if this person stopped doing this. You always love to judge others and say your sin is less. Dont give us your judgements and speak about other people. James 4:11-12 (New King James Version) 11 Do not speak evil of one another, brethren. He who speaks evil of a brother and judges his brother, speaks evil of the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge. 12 There is one Lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. Who are you to judge another? We all seem to hear a sermon and start to think of others that can benefit from this sermon, and this is always a good sign that we are shifting the blame. You need to look at this message and judge your own heart before you email it to a friend and repent. If you are honest with yourself there are plenty of things that you are not doing that you should be doing, and you are sinning in this. Get on your knees and cry out to God for mercy and then get up and change your ways. I dare you! The state of being bound emotionally or intellectually to a course of action or to another person or persons. A Pledge. To pledge or obligate one's own self; commit, consign, entrust, confide, relegate. When I married my wife I committed myself to her welfare, both physically and emotionally. She put her trust in me to provide for not only her but for our children, forsaking all to the betterment of one relationship under God. I made a commitment to my employer to do the best as I was able to provide him with quality work for the pay that I received, never defrauding him in any way. I made a commitment to my Country, to serve and protect such rights as were provided by the constitution, as I served in the Military, being sent where and when I was ordered. I made a commitment to myself to do those things that were lawful and needful to my welfare, to obtain the American dream of self suffiency and wellbeing. I made a commitment to my Ideology, being understood that God came first then everything else afterwards. Believing in one God, one Saviour, one Bible and one way of Salvation by the Direction of one Holy Ghost. I did my best to uphold each commitment as I was able, being limited in the body but with my spirit willing. Even after being devastated by three heart attacks, my commitment to my wife, family, children, ideology, self and God has not dwindled nor been removed by my sercomstances. Once a commitment has been made it cannot be counted as void because of changing situations. But as we all have made commitments in our lives, not one of us ever had to shed blood for our commitment to God. We all, as believers, have made a commitment to God.
